Tariq bin Shihab said: A man said to Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him): O you of the cut-off limb! The ears of Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) had been cut off while he was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: It is the better of my ears that you have reviled.
Al-Tabarani recorded it from his teacher al-Miqdam bin Dawud, who is da'if (weak); Ibn Daqiq al-Id said: He has, however, been declared trustworthy. The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
