Zayd bin Wahb narrates: We were sitting with Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) when Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived; he was so short that those who were sitting were almost level with him. When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) saw him, he laughed. He began talking with Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and laughing with him while standing over him. Then, when he went away, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) kept watching him until he disappeared from sight, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This is a small vessel (that is, a person) filled with understanding (here understanding means understanding of the religion, that is, knowledge of the religion).
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
