وَعَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ : مَاتَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ بِالطَّائِفِ فَشَهِدْنَا جِنَازَتَهُ ، فَجَاءَ طَائِرٌ لَمْ يُرَ عَلَى خِلْقَتِهِ حَتَّى دَخَلَ فِي نَعْشِهِ ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يُرَ خَارِجًا مِنْهُ ، فَلَمَّا دُفِنَ تُلِيَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ عَلَى شَفِيرِ الْقَبْرِ ، لَمْ يُدْرَ مَنْ تَلَاهَا : ( يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ ارْجِعِي إِلَى رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَرْضِيَّةً فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي ) . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sa'id bin Jubayr narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed away in Ta'if, and we attended his funeral. A bird came, the like of which had never been seen, and it entered his bier, and then it was not seen coming out. When he had been buried, this verse was heard being recited at the edge of his grave, but it was not known who was reciting it: (Allah Almighty says:) "O tranquil soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing. Enter among My servants, and enter My Paradise."
