وَعَنِ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ قَالَ : شَتَمَ رَجُلٌ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : إِنَّكَ لَتَشْتُمُنِي وَأَنَا فِيَّ ثَلَاثُ خِصَالٍ : إِنِّي لَآتِي عَلَى الْآيَةِ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنَّ جَمِيعَ النَّاسِ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا أَعْلَمُ ، وَإِنِّي لَأَسْمَعُ بِالْحَاكِمِ مِنْ حُكَّامِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَعْدِلُ فِي حُكْمِهِ فَأَفْرَحُ ، وَلَعَلِّي لَا أُقَاضَى إِلَيْهِ أَبَدًا ، وَإِنِّي لَأَسْمَعُ بِالْغَيْثِ قَدْ أَصَابَ الْبَلَدَ مِنْ بِلَادِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، فَأَفْرَحُ وَمَا لِي بِهِ سَائِمَةٌ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Ibn Buraydah al-Aslami narrates: A man reviled Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: You revile me, when I have three qualities? When I recite a verse of the Book of Allah, I wish that all people knew about it what I know; when I hear of one of the rulers of the Muslims that he has judged with justice, I rejoice at it, although perhaps I will never take a case before him; and when I hear of rain that has fallen on one of the lands of the Muslims, I rejoice at it, although I gain nothing from it.
