بَابٌ فِيمَا يُكْشَفُ فِي الْحَمَّامِ .

وَعَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْأَوْزَاعِيَّ يَقُولُ : الْفَخِذُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ عَوْرَةٌ ، وَفِي الْحَمَّامِ لَيْسَتْ بِعَوْرَةٍ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ . قُلْتُ : وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ فِي بَابِ الْحَمَّامِ قَبْلَ هَذَا حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : شَرُّ الْبَيْتِ الْحَمَّامُ ، تُكْشَفُ فِيهِ الْعَوْرَاتُ . وَقَوْلُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ لِلَّذِي يُنَوِّرُهُ إِذَا بَلَغَ حِقْوَيْهِ : اخْرُجْ . وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ . وَرُوَاتُهُ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ . قُلْتُ : وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ فِي بَابِ الْحَمَّامِ قَبْلَ هَذَا حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : شَرُّ الْبَيْتِ الْحَمَّامُ ، تُكْشَفُ فِيهِ الْعَوْرَاتُ . وَقَوْلُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ لِلَّذِي يُنَوِّرُهُ إِذَا بَلَغَ حِقْوَيْهِ : اخْرُجْ . وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ . وَرُوَاتُهُ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ ثِقَاتٌ .
Al-Walid bin Muslim narrates: I heard Imam al-Awza'i say: "The thigh is to be counted as 'awrah (to be covered) in the mosque, but it is not 'awrah in the bathhouse (hammam)."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: It has already passed earlier, in the chapter on the bathhouse, that this hadith is reported from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both): "The worst house is the bathhouse, in which covering is not observed." Likewise, the saying of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) to the man who was applying depilatory paste to him, when he reached the place where the waist-wrapper is tied: he said: "Leave!" And Allah knows best. Those who narrate this report from Imam al-Awza'i are thiqat (trustworthy).
