Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man from the Ansar became blind. He sent a message to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Please mark out a place in my house to be set aside for prayer, so that I may pray there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and some members of that man's people gathered around him. One man was not present there. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: How is so-and-so? One of those present mentioned him (in a negative manner). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Did he not take part in Badr? The people said: Yes, but he is such-and-such a man. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perhaps Allah Almighty looked upon the people of Badr and said: Do whatever you wish, for I have forgiven you." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah recorded this narration in a greatly abridged form. Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
