Majma al-Zawaid 14795 — The birth and death of Ali
وَعَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ قَالَ : قُتِلَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ يَوْمٍ الْجُمُعَةِ يَوْمَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعِينَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Yahya bin Bukayr narrates: Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred on Friday, the seventeenth of Ramadan, in the year 40 AH.
