قَالَ مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ : عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ شَمْسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَافِ بْنِ قُصَيِّ بْنِ كِلَابِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ لُؤَيِّ بْنِ غَالِبِ بْنِ فِهْرٍ . يُكَنَّى : أَبَا عَمْرٍو ، وَيُقَالُ : أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ . وَأُمُّ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ [ أَرْوَى بِنْتُ كُرَيْزِ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ شَمْسٍ ، وَأُمُّ أَرْوَى ] : أُمُّ حَكِيمٍ الْبَيْضَاءُ بِنْتُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ عَمَّةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - . وَأُمُّ أُمِّ حَكِيمٍ [ فَاطِمَةُ ] : بِنْتُ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَائِذِ بْنِ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ مَخْزُومٍ ، وَهِيَ جَدَّةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - [ مِنْ أَبِيهِ ].
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri narrates: (The lineage of) Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) (is as follows): Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan bin Abi al-As bin Umayyah bin Abd Shams bin Abd Manaf bin Qusayy bin Kilab bin Murrah bin Ka'b bin Lu'ayy bin Ghalib bin Fihr. The kunyah of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was Abu Amr, and according to one view it was Abu Abdullah. The mother of Sayyiduna Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) was Arwa bint Kurayz bin Rabi'ah bin Habib bin Abd Shams. The mother of Arwa was Umm Hakim al-Bayda' bint Abd al-Muttalib, the paternal aunt of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the mother of Umm Hakim was Fatimah bint Amr bin A'idh bin Imran bin Makhzum, who was the paternal grandmother of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
