بَابُ ، فَأَخَذَ رَجُلَانِ بِعَضُدِي حَتَّى دَنَوْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَرْسِلُوهُ " . فَأَرْسَلُونِي فَجَلَسْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، فَأَخَذَ بِمَجَامِعِ قَمِيصِي ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَسْلِمْ يَا ابْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِهِ " . فَقُلْتُ : أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهَ ، وَأَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ . قَالَ : فَكَبَّرَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ تَكْبِيرَةً سُمِعَتْ فِي طُرُقِ مَكَّةَ . وَقَدْ كَانُوا سَبْعِينَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ ، وَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا أَسْلَمَ فَعَلِمُوا بِهِ النَّاسُ يَضْرِبُونَهُ وَيَضْرِبُهُمْ .

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ضَرَبَ صَدْرَ عُمَرَ بِيَدِهِ حِينَ أَسْلَمَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَخْرِجْ مَا فِي صَدْرِ عُمَرَ مِنْ غِلٍّ ، وَأَبْدِلْهُ إِيمَانًا " . يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck him on the chest with his hand three times and said: "O Allah! Remove whatever rancour is in Umar's chest and replace it with faith." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said these words three times.
