Majma al-Zawaid 14410 — The acceptance of Islam by Umar

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The acceptance of Islam by Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was a source of relief, his emigration was a source of help, and his rule was a mercy. By Allah! We were not able to offer prayer (openly) until Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam. When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted Islam, he fought the people until they gave us the opportunity to offer prayer (openly).
Tabarani recorded it.
