Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that on a journey towards Makkah he was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to relieve himself, he would go so far away that no one could see him. The narrator says: He saw two trees which were far from each other, and he said: "O Ibn Mas'ud! Go to these two trees and say to them that the Messenger of Allah commands you both to come together, so that he may be screened behind you." So one of the two came walking to the other. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) relieved himself, then both trees went back to their places. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set off until we reached the streets of Madinah. A camel came running and went down in prostration before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); then it stood in front of him, and tears were flowing from its eyes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who is the owner of this camel?" The people said: "It is so-and-so." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Call him and bring him." He was brought, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "This one is complaining about you." He said: "O Messenger of Allah! We have been carrying water on this camel; we have been doing so for twenty years, and now we have decided to slaughter it." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is exactly what it has complained about. What an evil reward you are giving it! You kept using it for work for twenty years, until, when its bones became weak and its skin became weak, you decided to slaughter it. Sell it to me!" He said: "O Messenger of Allah! It is yours." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an order concerning it, and it was sent off to the camels. The Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Messenger of Allah! This camel has prostrated to you, so we have more right to prostrate." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah forbid that anyone should prostrate to another. If anyone were to prostrate to another, I would command the woman to prostrate to her husband."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir he recorded a similar report in abridged form, except that he recorded these words: This was an incident of the Battle of Hunayn. And he recorded these additional words in it: "Then the people were afflicted with severe thirst, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: 'O Abdullah! Look for water for me.' I brought him the leftover water that I had found in a vessel. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took it and poured it into a bowl, then he placed his blessed hand in it and said Bismillah (In the name of Allah), and water began to gush from between his fingers. The people drank as much as they wished and performed ablution."
Al-Bazzar recorded something similar. The chain of al-Mu'jam al-Awsat contains a narrator, Zam'ah bin Salih, who has been declared trustworthy despite his weakness; the hadith reported by the remaining narrators of this report is hasan (good). The chains of both routes of this report are da'if (weak).
