وَعَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ : جَاءَ جُرْمُقَانِيٌّ إِلَى أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ : أَيْنَ صَاحِبُكُمْ هَذَا الَّذِي يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ نَبِيٌّ ؟ لَئِنْ سَأَلْتُهُ لَأَعْلَمَنَّ نَبِيٌّ هُوَ أَوْ غَيْرَ نَبِيٍّ ، قَالَ : فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ الْجُرْمُقَانِيُّ : اقْرَأْ عَلَيَّ أَوْ قُصَّ عَلَيَّ ، قَالَ : فَتَلَا عَلَيْهِ آيَاتٍ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، فَقَالَ الْجُرْمُقَانِيُّ : هَذَا وَاللَّهِ الَّذِي جَاءَ بِهِ مُوسَى .
رَوَاهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَقَالَ : مُنْكَرٌ ، قُلْتُ : مَا فِيهِ غَيْرُ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، وَثَّقَهُ أَحْمَدُ وَغَيْرُهُ وَضَعَّفَهُ ابْنُ مَعِينٍ وَغَيْرُهُ .
رَوَاهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَقَالَ : مُنْكَرٌ ، قُلْتُ : مَا فِيهِ غَيْرُ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، وَثَّقَهُ أَحْمَدُ وَغَيْرُهُ وَضَعَّفَهُ ابْنُ مَعِينٍ وَغَيْرُهُ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Jurmuqani came to the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Where is that master of yours who says that he is a prophet? I will ask him, and then it will become known whether he is a prophet or not a prophet." The narrator says: Meanwhile the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and the Jurmuqani said: "Recite to me, or narrate to me!" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited to him some verses of the Book of Allah, and the Jurmuqani said: "By Allah! This is the very thing that Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) brought."
Abdullah recorded it, and he says: This narration is munkar (denounced). I say: There is no one in it (an unreliable narrator) other than Ayyub bin Jabir, and even he has been declared thiqah (trustworthy) by Ahmad and others, while Yahya bin Ma'in and others called him da'if (weak).
