عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ : مَرَّ [ بِنَا ] النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَنَحْنُ نَجْتَنِي ثَمَرَ الْأَرَاكِ فَقَالَ : " عَلَيْكُمْ بِالْأَسْوَدِ مِنْهُ ; فَإِنِّي كُنْتُ أَجْتَنِيهِ وَأَنَا أَرْعَى الْغَنَمَ " ، قَالُوا : رَعَيْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، مَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا وَقَدْ رَعَاهَا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ أَبِيهِ .

Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by us while we were picking the fruit of the arak tree. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Pick the black ones; I too used to pick them when I used to graze goats." The people said: "O Messenger of Allah! You have grazed goats?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! Every prophet has grazed goats."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Salamah, who did not hear from his father.
