Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) states: A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, was Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) a prophet?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He asked: "How long was there between him and Sayyiduna Nuh (peace be upon him)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ten centuries." He asked: "How long was there between Sayyiduna Nuh (peace be upon him) and Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ten centuries." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, how many messengers were there?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Three hundred and thirteen."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for the narrator Ahmad bin Khulayd al-Halabi, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
