Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was taken up on the ascension (Mi'raj), he saw a man committing a sin with a woman. Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) supplicated against him, and he was destroyed. Then he saw another man committing a sin, and he supplicated against him. So Allah Almighty revealed to him: 'This is My servant, and he is to return to Me. There are three possibilities: either he will repent and I will accept his repentance; or he will seek My forgiveness and I will forgive him; or from his loins will come people who will worship Me. O Ibrahim, do you not know that among My names is that I am al-Sabur (that is, the Most Forbearing)?'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Ali bin Abi Ali al-Lahbi, who is matruk (abandoned).
