Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Sayyiduna Idris (peace be upon him) was a friend of the Angel of Death. He requested the Angel of Death to show him Paradise and Hell. So the Angel of Death took Sayyiduna Idris (peace be upon him) along and showed him Hell; he was terrified by it and was about to faint. The Angel of Death wrapped his wings around him, and the Angel of Death said: 'Have you not seen it?' He said: 'I have seen it; I have never seen anything like (the terror of) today.' Then the Angel of Death took him along until he showed him Paradise, and he entered Paradise. Then the Angel of Death said: 'Come along now; you have seen it.' He said: 'Where to?' The Angel of Death said: 'To where you came from.' Sayyiduna Idris (peace be upon him) said: 'No, by Allah! Having entered it, I will never leave it.' Then it was said to the Angel of Death: 'Was it not you who brought him into it? Whoever enters it, it is not fitting for him to leave it.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Khalid al-Missisi, who is matruk (abandoned).
