وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " الضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ ، فَمَا زَادَ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَكُلُّ مَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Hospitality is for three days; whatever is beyond that is charity, and every good deed is charity."
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
