Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 13366

Ubaydullah bin Abi Bakr bin Anas narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) about three things: the sun, the moon and the stars, from what they were created. He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told me this: "They were created from the light of the Throne."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Ma'qil bin Malik, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy), while al-Azdi says: He is matruk (abandoned). The chain of this report also contains a narrator whom I do not know.
