Majma al-Zawaid 13347 — The permissibility of poetry and listening

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was waiting for news (or when that news was delayed), he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this half-verse of Tarafah: "News will come to you for which no preparation was made."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Al-Tirmidhi recorded this report, except that he mentioned Abdullah bin Rawahah instead of Tarafah.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
