Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 13162

Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one whose counsel is sought is made a trustee; if he wishes he may give advice, and if he wishes he may not give advice."
This narration was recorded by Imam al-Tabarani through two routes; one of them contains a narrator, Isma'il bin Muslim, who is da'if (weak), and the other contains a narrator, Abd al-Rahman bin Amr bin Jabalah, who is matruk (abandoned).
