بَابٌ فِيمَنْ ذَكَرَ أَحَدًا بِمَا لَيْسَ فِيهِ
One who mentions someone with what is not in him

عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ ذَكَرَ امْرَأً بِمَا لَيْسَ فِيهِ لِيَعِيبَهُ بِمَا لَيْسَ فِيهِ ، حَبَسَهُ اللَّهُ فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ بِنَفَاذِ مَا قَالَ فِيهِ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ عَنْ شَيْخِهِ مِقْدَامِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever mentions another person with something that is not in him, in order to fault him with something that is not in him, Allah Almighty will confine him in the Fire of Hell until he has fully served (the punishment for) what he said."
This narration was recorded by Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat from his teacher Miqdam bin Dawud, who is da'if (weak).
