Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 13109

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to a man: "Be careful and be on your guard."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. He said: Allah knows best, but in our view its meaning is that you should choose your friend carefully and be wary of him. And it has reached me from some of the people of knowledge that they explained it with another meaning; they say: its meaning is that you should guard yourself against sins and beware of their punishment. Its chain contains Abdullah bin Mis'ar bin Kidam, who is matruk (abandoned).
