Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 12766

Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When a believer meets another believer, greets him with salam, takes his hand and shakes hands with him, the sins of both of them fall away just as the leaves of a tree fall."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. It contains a narrator, Ya'qub bin Muhammad bin al-Tahla, from whom more than one person has narrated, and no one has declared him da'if (weak). The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
