وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ : لَقِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَبَا ذَرٍّ فَقَالَ : " يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ ، أَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى خَصْلَتَيْنِ هُمَا أَخَفُّ عَلَى الظَّهْرِ ، وَأَثْقَلُ فِي الْمِيزَانِ مِنْ غَيْرِهِمَا ؟ " قَالَ : بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ : " عَلَيْكَ بِحُسْنِ الْخُلُقِ ، وَطُولِ الصَّمْتِ ، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، مَا تَجَمَّلَ الْخَلَائِقُ بِمِثْلِهِمَا " .
رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُ أَبِي يَعْلَى ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) met Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: O Abu Dharr! Shall I not guide you to two traits which are light to practise and will be heavier in the Scale than anything else? He said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Hold fast to good character and to keeping silent most of the time. By the One in whose Hand is my soul, creation has not adorned itself with anything like these two.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; the narrators of Abu Ya'la are thiqat (trustworthy).
