Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the Hour while I was present there. He said: Knowledge of it (its appointed time) is only with Allah Almighty, and none but He will reveal it at its time. However, I will tell you about its signs and about what will happen before it. Beware! Before it there will be tribulations and harj. It was submitted: O Messenger of Allah! As for the tribulations, we know about them; what is meant by harj? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In the language of Abyssinia it means killing; (and another sign is) that mutual estrangement will be cast among people, until no one will recognise anyone else; the hearts of people will dry up, and a worthless rabble will remain who will not recognise good as good nor denounce evil as evil. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The opening part of this report is mentioned in the "Sahih".
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain contains a narrator who is not named.
