وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَانَ يَدْعُو : " يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ " ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَقُلْتُ : بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَتَخَافُ وَأَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " يَا عَائِشَةُ ، إِنَّ قُلُوبَ بَنِي آدَمَ بَيْنَ أُصْبُعَيْنِ مِنْ أَصَابِعِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، فَمَنْ شَاءَ أَنْ يُقَلِّبَهُ مِنَ الضَّلَالَةِ إِلَى الْهُدَى أَوْ مِنَ الْهُدَى إِلَى الضَّلَالَةِ فَعَلَ " ، رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَدِيٍّ : فِي بَعْضِ مَا يَرْوِيهِ نَكِرَةٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ وُثِّقُوا وَفِيهِمْ خِلَافٌ .
Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate: "O Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, do you also fear, even though you are the Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Aishah, the hearts of the children of Adam are between two of the fingers of the Most Merciful. Whomever He wishes to turn from misguidance to guidance, or from guidance to misguidance, He does so."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains al-Ala' bin al-Fadl. Ibn Adi said: some of what he narrates is munkar (objectionable). The remaining narrators of this report have been declared trustworthy, though there is disagreement about them.
