عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " قِرَاءَةُ الرَّجُلِ فِي غَيْرِ الْمُصْحَفِ أَلْفُ دَرَجَةٍ ، وَقِرَاءَتُهُ فِي الْمُصْحَفِ تُضَاعَفُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ أَلْفَيْ دَرَجَةٍ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ مَعْينٍ فِي رِوَايَةٍ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ فِي أُخْرَى ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Uthman bin Abdullah bin Aws al-Thaqafi narrates this statement from his grandfather: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Reciting the Noble Qur'an without looking at it brings a thousand ranks, and reciting the Noble Qur'an while looking at it doubles that and brings two thousand ranks."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Sa'id bin Awn, whom Yahya bin Ma'in declared thiqah (trustworthy) according to one report and da'if (weak) according to another. The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
