Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11573

Sayyiduna Abu al-Juhaym (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Two men differed about a verse of the Qur'an. One said: "I learned this verse from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself." The other said: "I too learned it from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." The two of them asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about it, and he said: "The Qur'an may be recited in seven ahruf, so do not fall into disagreement about the Qur'an, for disagreeing (or disputing) about the Qur'an is disbelief (kufr)."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
