Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11268

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates regarding this statement of Allah Almighty: (Allah Almighty says:) "And We will surely make them taste the nearer (that is, worldly) punishment before the greater punishment (of the Hereafter), so that they may return." This means those of them who remain, or that they repent and return.
Al-Tabarani recorded it from his teacher Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Sa'id bin Abi Maryam, who is da'if (weak).
