عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - قَالَ : أَمْلَى عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ مِنْ سُلَالَةٍ مِنْ طِينٍ إِلَى ثُمَّ أَنْشَأْنَاهُ خَلْقًا آخَرَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ : فَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ ، فَضَحِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ لَهُ مُعَاذٌ : مِمَّ ضَحِكْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " بِهَا خُتِمَتْ فَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ جَابِرٌ الْجُعْفِيُّ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ وَقَدْ وُثِّقَ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was dictating this verse to me: "We created man from an extract of clay." He recited the verse up to: "Then We brought him forth as another creation." Sayyiduna Mu'adh said to him: "Blessed is Allah Almighty, the best of creators." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed. Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "O Messenger of Allah! What did you laugh at?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The verse ends with these words: 'So blessed is Allah Almighty, the best of creators.'"
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Jabir al-Ju'fi, who is da'if (weak), though he has been declared trustworthy; the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
