Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: This Qur'an will be taken away from among you. The narrator said: O Abu Abd al-Rahman, do we not recite the Qur'an, and have we not preserved it in the form of the mushaf? Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A night will come upon the Qur'an when it will not remain in the heart of any servant, nor will anything of it remain in any mushaf, and when people wake in the morning they will be destitute, like animals. Then Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: "And if We willed, We could take away that which We have revealed to you; then you would find for yourself no guardian against Us in that regard."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Shaddad bin Ma'qil, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
