Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 11138

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) states: On the day of the Conquest of Makkah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Makkah. At that time there were three hundred and sixty idols at the Ka'bah, whose feet Satan had had fixed firmly with lead. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came with a stick in his hand, and he would point the stick at each of the idols, and it would fall on its face, while he was reciting: "The truth has come and falsehood has vanished; indeed falsehood was bound to vanish," until he had passed by all the idols.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Ishaq, who is a mudallis and thiqah (trustworthy); the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The various routes of this hadith have already passed in the chapter on the Battle of the Conquest.
