Abu Rashid narrates: I saw Sayyiduna al-Miqdad (may Allah be pleased with him), the horseman of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), sitting on one of the money-changers' chests in Hims, and it was rather large; he intended to take part in the campaign. I said to him: "Allah Almighty has excused you." He said: "The verse concerning setting out (on campaigns) came to us: 'Go forth, whether light or heavy.'"
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Baqiyyah bin al-Walid, in whom there is weakness, though he has been declared trustworthy; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
