قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : يَوْمَ الْفُرْقَانِ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ .
The saying of Allah the Exalted: "On the day of criterion, the day when the two armies met"

عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ : ( يَوْمَ الْفُرْقَانِ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ ) قَالَ : كَانَتْ بَدْرٌ لِسَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ مَضَتْ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ لَمْ يُدْرِكِ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: (Allah Almighty says:) "The Day of Criterion, the day the two hosts met." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: (It refers to the Battle of Badr,) and the Battle of Badr took place on the 17th of Ramadan.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it; the narrator named Ibrahim did not meet Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him).
