قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ .

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : أَتَتْ قُرَيْشٌ الْيَهُودَ ، فَقَالُوا : بِمَا جَاءَكُمْ مُوسَى ، صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالُوا : عَصَاهُ وَيَدُهُ بَيْضَاءُ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ .
وَأَتَوُا النَّصَارَى فَقَالُوا : كَيْفَ كَانَ عِيسَى ، صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالُوا : كَانَ يُبْرِئُ الْأَكْمَهَ وَالْأَبْرَصَ وَيُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى .
فَأَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالُوا : ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ لَنَا الصَّفَا ذَهَبًا ، [ فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ ] فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ : إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ . " فَلْيَتَفَكَّرُوا فِيهَا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
وَأَتَوُا النَّصَارَى فَقَالُوا : كَيْفَ كَانَ عِيسَى ، صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالُوا : كَانَ يُبْرِئُ الْأَكْمَهَ وَالْأَبْرَصَ وَيُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى .
فَأَتَوُا النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالُوا : ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ لَنَا الصَّفَا ذَهَبًا ، [ فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ ] فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ : إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لَآيَاتٍ لِأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ . " فَلْيَتَفَكَّرُوا فِيهَا " .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated: Quraysh came to the Jews and said: "What (that is, what miracles) did Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) bring to you?" The Jews said: "His staff, and his shining hand, which appeared bright to those who looked." Then Quraysh came to the Christians and asked them: "What was the state of Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him)?" They said: "He used to heal the one born blind and the leper, and bring the dead to life." Then Quraysh came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Pray to your Lord for us that He turn Mount Safa into gold for us." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed to his Lord, and this verse was revealed: "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and in the alternation of the night and the day there are signs for people of understanding." (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said:) That is, these people should reflect upon it.
