Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Jewish woman presented the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with a roasted goat. He ate from it, then he said: "This goat has informed me that it has been poisoned." Sayyiduna Bishr bin al-Bara' (may Allah be pleased with him) died because of eating it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent for that woman (and summoned her, asking): "Why did you do this?" She said: "I did this so that I would find out: if you were a prophet, it would not harm you, and if you were a king, I would rid the people of you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an order concerning that woman, and she was killed.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Sa'id bin Muhammad al-Warraq, who is da'if (weak). (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: This narration has various chains, which will come in the chapter on the signs of prophethood and in other chapters.
