وَعَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ الَّذِينَ قَالَ اللَّهُ فِيهِمْ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - ( فِيهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّونَ أَنْ يَتَطَهَّرُوا وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ الْمُطَّهِّرِينَ ؟ ) " قَالَ : كَانُوا يَسْتَنْجُونَ بِالْمَاءِ ، وَكَانُوا لَا يَنَامُونَ اللَّيْلَ كُلَّهُ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ وَاصِلُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
قُلْتُ : حَدِيثُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ رَوَاهُ ابْنُ مَاجَهْ دُونَ قَوْلِهِ : " وَكَانُوا لَا يَنَامُونَ اللَّيْلَ كُلَّهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ وَاصِلُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
قُلْتُ : حَدِيثُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ رَوَاهُ ابْنُ مَاجَهْ دُونَ قَوْلِهِ : " وَكَانُوا لَا يَنَامُونَ اللَّيْلَ كُلَّهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who are these people about whom Allah Almighty has said: 'In it (the mosque) are men who love to purify themselves thoroughly, and Allah Almighty loves those who purify themselves thoroughly.'" He said: They are the people who perform istinja (cleansing) with water and who do not remain asleep the whole night.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Wasil bin al-Sa'ib, and he is da'if (weak). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Imam Ibn Majah has recorded the hadith reported from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), but without these words: "and they do not remain asleep the whole night."
