Sayyiduna Amr bin Awf al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the year of the Confederates, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) marked out the trench from Ahmar al-Sabkhatayn, on the side of Banu Harithah, until it reached al-Madhad, and he allotted forty cubits to every ten men. The Muhajirun and the Ansar disputed over Salman al-Farisi (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a strong man. The Muhajirun said: "Salman is from us," and the Ansar said: "(He is) from us." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Salman is from us, the people of the household."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Kathir bin Abdullah al-Muzani, whom the majority declared da'if (weak), while al-Tirmidhi graded his narration hasan (good); the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
