Sunan Ibn Majah 2447 — A Man Who Draws A Bucket Of Water In Return
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : " كُنْتُ أَدْلُو الدَّلْوَ بِتَمْرَةٍ وَأَشْتَرِطُ أَنَّهَا جَلْدَةٌ " .
´It was narrated that 'Ali said:` “I used to draw water, one bucket for a date, and I stipulated that they should be good quality, dried dates.”

Our esteemed researcher has declared the mentioned narration to be weak in its chain of transmission, whereas some other scholars have considered it to be hasan. Therefore, the wage should be determined before commencing the work.
