بَابُ مَرَضِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَوَفَاتِهِ:
Chapter. The sickness of the Prophet and his death.

حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ،عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : " أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَبَّلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ " .
Narrated Aisha and Ibn `Abbas: Abu Bakr kissed the Prophet after his death.

Hadith Commentary:

Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu) placed his mouth on the forehead of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and kissed him, then, weeping, said:
“May my parents be sacrificed for you! You are pure in both life and death.”

In another narration, it is mentioned that Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu) came to the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and touched him, so the people said:
“O companion of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)! Has the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) passed away?” Abu Bakr (radi Allahu anhu) replied:
“Yes, he has passed away.”
