Al-Muntaqa Ibn al-Jarud 973 — What is reported about emancipation
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : ثنا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ ، قَالَ : ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ الحَسَنِ ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ مَلَكَ ذَا رَحِمٍ مَحْرَمٍ فَهُوَ حُرٌّ " .
Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever becomes the owner of a mahram relative (one with whom marriage is forbidden), then that slave is free.
