Al-Muntaqa Ibn al-Jarud 913 — What is reported about ‘aqiqah
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ آدَمَ ، قَالَ : ثنا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا فَرَعَ ، وَلا عَتِيرَةَ " .
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Neither Fara’ is permissible nor ‘Atirah. The first offspring of a she-camel, which they used to slaughter in the name of their idols, was called Fara’, and the goat which they used to slaughter in the first ten days of Rajab was called ‘Atirah.
