Al-Muntaqa Ibn al-Jarud 737 — Book of Divorce
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّ سَهْلَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيَّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُوَيْمِرًا الْعَجْلانِيَّ ، فَذَكَرَ فِي قِصَّةِ اللِّعَانِ ، قَالَ : فَطَلَّقَهَا ثَلاثًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَأْمُرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : فَكَانَتْ تِلْكَ سُنَّةُ الْمُتَلاعِنَيْنِ .
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d Sa’idi رضي الله عنه, narrating the incident of the li’an of ‘Uwaymir ‘Ajlani, says that he divorced his wife three times before the command of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم. Ibn Shihab رحمه الله says that this is the method of li’an.
