Al-Muntaqa Ibn al-Jarud 231 — Prayer while sitting
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، قَالَ: ثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، قَالَ: ثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ، عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: كَانَ بِي النَّاصُورُ فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ: «صَلِّ قَائِمًا فَإِنْ لَمْ تَسْتَطِعْ فَقَاعِدًا فَإِنْ لَمْ تَسْتَطِعْ فَعَلَى جَنْبٍ»
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I had a tumor (cancer), so I asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about (performing) prayer. He said: Perform prayer standing; if you are not able, then perform it sitting; if you are not able to do even that, then perform it lying down.
