Hadith 80

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you perfects his Islam (i.e., purifies it from hypocrisy and show-off), then for every good deed he does, ten to seven hundred times rewards are written for him, and for every bad deed he does, only that much (i.e., equal to what he did) is written.

Brief Explanation
Imam al-Muhaddithin Imam Bukhari rahimahullah, by virtue of his God-given insight, has here also affirmed the belief that Islam and Iman are one and that increase and decrease in them is correct. As evidence, he has cited those ahadith from which it is clearly apparent that when the reward of a single good deed is written up to seven hundred times, then certainly, through this, there is an increase in faith (iman), and according to the Qur’an and Sunnah, this is the correct belief.
