Hadith 214

214 صحيح حديث أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: ذَكَرُوا النَّارَ وَالنَّاقُوسَ، فَذَكَرُوا الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى، فَأُمِرَ بِلاَلٌ أَنْ يَشْفَعَ الأَذَانَ وَأَنْ يُوتِرَ الإِقَامَةَ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that (for announcing the time of prayer) the people mentioned fire and the bell, then the Jews and Christians were mentioned, then Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) was commanded to say the words of the adhan twice each and in the iqamah once each.

Brief Explanation
That is, the muezzin will say the words of the adhan twice each, except for the initial "Allahu Akbar," which he will say four times, and except for the final phrase of tawhid, which he will say once. And he will say the words of the iqamah once each, except for "Qad qamatis salah," which he will say twice. (Murattab)
