Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Some people from Bani Israel disappeared (their forms were transformed). I think that they were transformed into the form of mice, because when camel’s milk is placed before mice, they do not drink it (because camel meat was forbidden in the religion of Bani Israel), but if goat’s milk is placed before them, they drink it. Then I narrated this hadith to Ka’b Ahbar, so he (in astonishment) asked, “Did you really hear this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?” He asked this question several times. Upon this, I said (if I did not hear it from the Prophet, then from whom), “Do I use to read the Torah?” (that I would narrate it by copying from there).

Brief Explanation
There is a difference of opinion regarding whether the progeny of those who were transformed (mamsūkh) continues to exist or not. According to the majority (jumhūr), their progeny does not remain, and the hadith of the chapter has been interpreted in this light—that revelation had perhaps not yet come to you at that time. That is why you spoke in the form of conjecture. (Wahidi)
