Hadith 1636

Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said from the pulpit: Allah has forgiven the tribe of Ghifar, and Allah has kept the tribe of Aslam safe, and the tribe of ‘Usayyah disobeyed Allah and His Messenger.

Brief Explanation
The people of the tribe of Ghifar, in the era of ignorance, used to steal and rob the wealth of the pilgrims. After embracing Islam, Allah forgave their sins. As for the people of the tribe of ‘Usayyah, they are those who, after making a covenant with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), acted treacherously and martyred the people of Bi’r Ma‘unah.
