Al-Lu'lu' wal-Marjan 1628 — Virtues of the Ansar
1628 صحيح حديث جَابِرٍ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: نَزَلَتْ هذِهِ الآيَةُ فِينَا (إِذْ هَمَّتْ طَائِفَتَانِ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ تَفْشَلاَ) بَنِي سَلِمَةَ وَبَنِي حَارِثَةَ وَمَا أُحِبُّ أَنَّهَا لَمْ تُنْزَلْ؛ وَاللهُ يَقُولُ (وَاللهُ وَلِيُّهُمَا)
Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that this verse was revealed about us (i.e., Banu Haritha and Banu Salama): (idh hammat ta'ifatani minkum an tafshala) (Aal-e-Imran: 122) "When two parties from among you were about to lose heart." I do not wish that this verse had not been revealed, because Allah further says, "And Allah was their protector." (So, how great an honor it is for us to have received Allah's guardianship.)
