Hadith 1563

Hazrat Abu Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that in those battles in which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) himself participated, there were some days (such as in the Battle of Uhud) when, except for Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), no one else remained with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). (The narrator says) This statement was made by both Hazrat Talha and Hazrat Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with them) themselves.

Brief Explanation
Hadith Narrator: ... The kunyah of Hazrat Talhah bin Ubaidullah radi Allahu anhu was Abu Muhammad. He was among the ‘Asharah Mubasharah (the ten companions given glad tidings of Paradise). He accepted Islam in the very beginning. He was one of the five persons who accepted Islam at the hands of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq radi Allahu anhu. He was among the six members of the Shura (consultative council). He endured great hardships in the path of Allah Ta‘ala. He could not participate in the Battle of Badr, but he was greatly grieved by this. Due to the sincerity of his intention, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam allotted him a share from the spoils and reward, and gave him the glad tidings of martyrdom. And he said that Talhah and Zubair will be my neighbors in Paradise. He attained martyrdom in the Battle of Jamal.
